Seventeen members of the Cedar Rapids Kennedy wrestling team participated in the Team Excel Team Camp last week in Estes Park, Colo. The Cougars experienced a Rocky Mountain High, performing well at the team dual camp.
The Cougars, led by head coach Brent Paulson, went 9-2 in dual meet action against teams from across the country, going 7-0 and inning its eight-team pool. Kennedy’s group placed fourth overall. Among the notable wins, the Cougars knocked off Wiggins, Colo., the defending state champions in Colorado’s small-school class.
The camp concluded with an individual tournament with four Kennedy wrestlers finishing in the top 2. Zach Parsons won the 175-pound title.
