Local golfer aces the game

Jack Baker isn’t perfect, but he has achieved perfection. Nine times to be exact.

Baker has scored nine holes-in-one during the more than 40 years he’s been golfing. He has a reasonable approach to the astounding feat.

I.C. West wrestlers compete at Northern Plains Regional

Below is an update from the Trojan Wrestling Club, highlighting results from the Northern Plains Kids/Cadet Regional held June 12-13 at Rockford, Ill.

NORTHERN PLAINS KIDS/CADET REGIONAL

Ten members of the Trojan Wrestling Club competed at the Northern Plains Kids/Cadet Regional in Rockford, Ill. In Greco Roman competition, Jack Hathaway, Phillip Laux, Gradey Gambrall, and Justin Koethe placed 2nd and Mickey Pelfrey placed 6th in the Cadet division. In the Schoolboy division Paul Pelfrey placed 2nd. In the Intermediate division Connor Bilden placed 4th. In Freestyle in the Cadet age group, Phillip Laux, Jack Hathaway, Justin Koethe, and Mickey Pelfrey placed 1st andGradey Gambrall placed 2nd. In the Schoolboy age group, Paul Pelfrey placed 2nd and Skyler St John was 4th. In the Intermediate division Connor Bilden placed 4th. Sam Chalkley competed in the Cadet Freestyle tournament losing to the 1st and 5th place finishers. In the Schoolboy division Bradley Conley lost to the 4th place finisher in Greco Roman and the 4th and 5th place finishers in freestyle. By placing in the top 3 in the Cadet division, Hathaway, Laux, Gambrall, Koethe, and Mickey Pelfrey qualified for the Cadet National tournament in Fargo. Next action for this group is the Cadet National Duals in Rochester, Minn. and the Schoolboy National Duals in Indianapolis, Ind.

UNI trio qualify for Junior FILA World Team Trials

Freshman Ryan Jauch, red-shirt freshman Cruse Aarhus and freshman Steven Fitzgerald secured top-eight finishes at the 2009 U.S. Nationals Freestyle tournament in Las Vegas last week and earned berths to the Junior FILA World Team Trials May 23-24 in Colorado Springs, Colo.
