The 21st Annual North/South All-Star Meet will be held this weekend and hosted by the Charles City Mat Club. Below is a press release about the yearly all-star dual and the lineups. Should be fun.
This is to announce that the 31st Annual North/South All-Star Wrestling Meet hosted by the Charles City Mat Club is planned for Saturday, June 13 at 6:00 p.m. in the Charles City High School gym. Senior state champions and place finishers from all over the state of Iowa come together in one last match of their high school career. Meets in the past have seen many future All-Americans, NCAA Champions, as well as Olympic medal winners. Some of the past wrestlers have included many familiar names such as: Jim Zalesky, Barry Davis, Joe Gibbons, Mark Schwab, Dan Knight, Jim Gibbons, Lee Fullhart, Jeff McGinnis, Mark Ironside and Drew Kelly just to name a few of the state of Iowa’s outstanding wrestlers.
All wrestlers are Iowa high school 2009 seniors from 1A, 2A, and 3A. Most wrestlers are a 2009 state champion or a top three finisher.
Don’t miss the chance to see all the action Saturday night of some of the most exciting match ups between a lot of future collegiate wrestlers. Tickets will be on sale at the door for $5. For more information contact Darin Mitchell at 641-398-2230 or e-mail: mitch@omnitelcom.com.

My thoughts are the 125/130-pound matches will be worth the price of admission. Hinschberger vs. Colon and Vaske. I’d love to see those. With Vaske and Hinschberger going to IIAC schools (Hinschberger to Coe and Vaske to Wartburg) we may see the first of many good matches in the future.

This is not a meet it is a marathon. I wish they would change the format and have a tournament form with the champoinship being a dual in the evening. Welcome back KJ
I understand your point, luvhurtz. A ton of matches.
How were/are the M’town Thursday Night Matchups?
Thanks for the welcome back. It’s good to be back.
KJ, is there results from this anywhere?
Thanks
I’ll try to get my hands on them as soon as possible.

Joe Colon (Clear Lk) dec. Hinschberger (BPlaine), 7-6
Jake Thome (DBosco) dec. Bryant Hummel (Clarinda), 7-1
Alex Burkle (NLinn) dec. Hummel (Clarinda), 2-1
Keelan Moore (WSR) dec. Dakota Halligan (DavWest), 9-5
Quinten Haynes (WatEast) dec. Ted Kruger (Sib-Ochy), not sure of the score
Bart Reiter (Dbosco) dec. Derrick Miner (SLP), not sure of the score
I’ll try to get other official results and update scores.
